COAG reforms

06 June, 2012

The Council of Australian Governments meeting in April this year agreed to major reforms of environmental laws.

The Australian Network of Environmental Defender’s Offices has released an initial response.

The changes were suggested by the Business Advisory Reform and include the Federal government delegating their approval of environmentally sensitive developments to the states; fast-tracking of approval of major developments and removing state based energy efficiency and climate change schemes.

Environmental Defenders Office Queensland (EDO Qld) gives a strong legal voice to the environment when needed most.
