EDO LawJam8: Queensland's water resources under threat

15 October, 2014

This free information session Oct 20, 2014 looks at the proposed changes to the Water Act 2000 (Qld). Learn how our water will be managed in the future, should the Bill be enacted.

  • When: Monday, 20 October 2014, 5.30-7.30pm
  • Where: Griffith University Ecocentre, Nathan campus. Check out this Map.
  • Who: EDO Solicitor Revel Pointon and Dr Andrew Brooks
  • RSVP: edoqld@edoqld.org.au or ph 3211 4466

EDO solicitor Revel Pointon will give a snapshot of the proposed amendments. Griffith University's Dr Andrew Brooks will provide insight into how the amendments may impact ecosystems. Also - we'll examine recent retrospective amendments to the Water Act. These changes made extraction of quarry material from watercourse a legal activity, stopping enforcement action against Queensland LNP donor, Karreman Quarries, in its tracks.
