Mark Dreyfus gives a hoot

29 August, 2017

Well, not literally, but the Federal Shadow Attorney General was kind enough to once again stop by the EDO Qld office with Shadow Assistant Minister for Preventing Family Violence Teri Butler on Tuesday 29 August 2017.

His honourable Mark Dreyfus QC, MP and and Terri Butler MP were welcomed by our CEO, Jo Bragg and volunteer law students, Libby Masters and Mikaela Robertson.

Dreyfus was back again to show his support for EDO Qld as well as other community legal centres out there doing good in our state - as well as meet with our solicitors to talk about what’s coming up for our centre.

Here’s what Dreyfus, who is no stranger to environmental law having been a barrister on a successful whaling case in the international courts, has had to say about EDO Qld and the work we do…

“Community legal organisations including Environmental Defenders Offices have played an integral role in the struggle for justice in this country for decades … The extensive experience of these organisations at the very frontline of service delivery means that they are often able to provide unique insights and contributions to policy development in their areas of expertise.”
