Mackay Conservation Group joins Eastpoint Mackay matters in P & E Court

04 May, 2012

Mackay Conservation Group Inc (MCG) was successful in its application to the Planning and Environment Court for an order that it be included as a party in matters brought by developer Eastpoint Mackay Pty Ltd.

The developer sought to extend the time limit for the building of the hotel component of a major development on a coastal site at Eastpoint, Mackay. That development was approved in 2004 despite an appeal by MCG.

His Honour Judge Robertson recognised that MCG’s interest in the matters is in the public interest and concluded that MCG is an entity whose presence before the Court would be desirable, just and convenient to enable the Court to determine effectively and completely the issue raised in Eastpoint’s application and appeal.

EDO Qld represented MCG in their successful application and will continue to represent MCG in both matters.
