New legislation to safeguard our Reef introduced to Queensland Parliament

The Reef Protection Measures Bill 2019 was introduced into Parliament this year and is shortly due for debate. We've worked hard for over 2 years with legal advocacy and assisting other groups to ensure this bill is as strong as possible. It will reduce nutrient and sediment pollution impacting the health and resilience of our Reef.

Case Explainer: Adani’s North Galilee Water Scheme - Federal Judicial Review

On 12 June 2019, the Federal Minister for the Environment agreed to court orders conceding the case against her by our client Australian Conservation Foundation over Adani’s controversial North Galilee Water Scheme project. 

The result is a massive win for ACF and the result of more than 1000 hours of painstaking legal work by the EDO Qld team.

LTG seeks reasons for Blair Athol mining lease transfer

EDO Qld is acting for Lock the Gate Alliance Ltd (LTG) in the Supreme Court to obtain reasons for the Queensland Government’s decision to approve transfer of the Blair Athol mining lease in central Queensland.  LTG is concerned about the ability of junior miner Orion Mining to meet rehabilitation requirements on the site left by former operator Rio Tinto.
