LTG seeks reasons for Blair Athol financial assurance decision

EDO Qld is acting for Lock the Gate Alliance Ltd (LTG) in the Supreme Court to obtain reasons for the Queensland Government’s decision on the amount of financial assurance required for the Blair Athol mine in central Queensland.  LTG is concerned the amount required of junior miner Orion Mining is not enough to safeguard against rehabilitation needs on the site left by former operators Rio Tinto.

LTG seeks reasons for Blair Athol mining lease transfer

EDO Qld is acting for Lock the Gate Alliance Ltd (LTG) in the Supreme Court to obtain reasons for the Queensland Government’s decision to approve transfer of the Blair Athol mining lease in central Queensland.  LTG is concerned about the ability of junior miner Orion Mining to meet rehabilitation requirements on the site left by former operator Rio Tinto.

Kevin's Corner coal mine Land Court challenge

Case Summary: EDO Qld represented Coast and Country Association of Queensland Inc (CCAQ) in their objection to the approval of the Mining Lease (ML) and Environmental Authority (EA) for the Kevin's Corner coal mine, situated in the Galilee Basin in the catchment of the Burdekin River (which flows into wetlands and the Reef). Objections centred upon impacts to groundwater, economics and the public interest.

Abbot Pt Port expansion Supreme Court EA judicial review

EDO Qld represented Whitsunday Residents Against Dumping (WRAD) in an application to the Queensland Supreme Court for judicial review of the Queensland Government’s decision to grant an Environmental Authority (EA) for Adani’s Abbot Point T0 port expansion. The case was about whether the project was properly assessed, as required by law, before it was granted a green light.

Adani Carmichael Supreme Court EA Judicial Review

EDO Qld represented Land Services of Coast and Country in an application in the Queensland Supreme Court for judicial review of the Queensland Government’s decision to grant the Adani Carmichael Coal Mine an Environmental Authority (EA). Our client’s case was that there was a failure to comply with section 5 of the Environmental Protection Act 1994 (Qld).

ACF Federal Court Adani Carmichael judicial review

On behalf of Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF), EDO Qld sought an independent judicial review of the legality of Federal Environment Minister Greg Hunt’s re-approval of Adani Carmichael coal mine project. The case was about whether the minister correctly applied the law when considering the impacts of the project on the Great Barrier Reef.

Adani Carmichael coal mine Land Court objection

EDO Qld represented Land Services of Coast and Country Inc. in the Land Court objection to the grant of a Mining Lease (ML) and Environmental Authority (EA) for the Adani Carmichael coal project. On behalf of our client, we sought a clear recommendation that the project should not proceed due to groundwater, climate, ecological and economic impacts.
