Queensland is burning: It’s time to release Queensland’s plan on climate and renewables!

23 September, 2019

Fires are raging across Queensland and destroying our World Heritage national parks, over 65% of Queensland is in serious drought, seas are rising over Torres Strait, and our Reef is dying, yet where are our Queensland climate and renewable energy plans?

Write to the Premier now and ask the Queensland Government to finally release the long awaited Green Papers on climate change and renewable energy.

The Green Papers were promised mid-2019, and were expected to be released during Climate Week back in July.

Queensland's chief scientist was reported in February 2019 and June 2019, stating: "'no Australian Government' was yet acting with the appropriate degree of urgency to deal with the emerging signs of climate change in Australia".

Yet it’s now September, only one year from an election, and the Queensland government has still not released the Green Papers for public comment.

Write to the Premier today and ask for Government action now.

We need effective and certain climate change and renewable energy plans set in place. We need a clear path to support achievement of the Paris Agreement aims to limit temperature increases to 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels.

We owe it to future generations to act now, to honour our international climate commitments and work towards our targets in a swift, fair and meaningful way.

Take Action
